MSDSA - FUNDRIVE Fundraiser

To All McConnell School of Dance Parents-General, Performance, and Competition,

The MSDSA board has decided to organize a FUNDrive, launching on November 26! We will have details at the Costume Swap!

This is not your average fundraiser! This is a no-cost-to-you fundraiser and a good way to clean out those closets and storage areas to make room for New toys and Christmas gifts!!

We have teamed up with Value Village and we will be collecting garbage bags full of your items and weigh in on December 19! Please check out the  poster in the studio!

They will pay us for each pound of donations! And we are helping other community organizations because Value Village gives portions of the sales of donated items to Diabetes and other local groups!

On average a full garbage bag is approx. 14 lbs of clothing or household items!

Our first goal is $500 which is approximately 250 bags.

Christmas is a giving time, it’s a great time to get donations from people! Ask your neighbors, coworkers, friends, and family! The more bags we bring in the more we earn!

Here is a list of acceptable items to put in the bags:  (PLEASE no large items over 18 inches on one side! They will take as donation but won’t pay for the large items like furniture.)

Competitive Classes - Sat Dec 3rd Change of Schedule

Dear Competitive Dancers and Parents,

There will be a change in schedule for classes on Saturday December 3rd due to many of our dancers & instructors attending the Rince Ri Feis.

Ardghrad 9:30 - 11:00 - No Class

Meangrhad 11:00 - 12:30 - No Class

There will be no team practice this week.

Bunghrad: 12:00 - 1:00 

Ullmhuchan: 1:00 - 2:00

MSDSA - Costume & Shoe Swap

Dear Dancers & Parents,

       

MSDSA’s Annual Costume & Shoe Swap will be held on Saturday, November 26th from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm at the dance studio.  This is a great chance to sell your gently used dance items including costumes, shoes, wigs and dance clothing.  Payment is only accepted by personal cheque or cash.  

Please drop off your items to sell at the studio on the following dates and times.

        Saturday, November 19th from 9:30 am - noon

        Monday, November 21st from 5:30 - 7:00 pm

        Tuesday, November 22nd from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

        Wednesday, November 23rd from 5:30 - 7:00 pm

        Thursday, November 24th from 5:30 - 7:00 pm

One of the MSDSA members will be available to collect the items and tag and label them for the sale.  Unsold items will be returned to you at a later date.  

Reminder to  parents to have the dancers to try on their costumes prior to the sale as this will be the time to ensure the costume will fit them for performances and recitals for this dance year.  New costumes will be ordered in December.

The MSDSA members will also be selling tickets to the Pancake Breakfast being hosted on Sunday, January 8th from 8 am - 10 am at Applebees on Pembina Highway at all of the above listed collection dates and the day of the sale.  Please support the dance studio by purchasing tickets for the pancake breakfast as well.

November - McConnell AB Challenge

November AB Challenge

Some of our Performance & Competitive dancers have asked for an Abdominal & Core Strength work-out as a challenge for the month of November.  Lauren Rousseau has  put together a great workout for the month and we encourage our dancers to do their best to take part in the challenge.   Attached is the calendar & below are a few instructions for the challenge.  Thanks very much to Lauren for all her work and a great Team Spirit!

Attention Dancers: As we all know core strength is so important in Irish Dance. It helps with carriage, allows us to jump higher, have better balance, and prevent injury. That's why we are challenging all dancers to take the "McConnell November Irish AB Challenge" 

This challenge will help you build up your abdominal strength with simple exercises that will increase in reps as the month goes on. The best part is you don't need any equipment. On the days dancers have classes at the studio we will be doing the AB Challenge after warm up. On the days you don't have classes dancers can print out the calendar and do the exercises at home. We hope all dancers will take part, Happy Planking!
