CHANGE OF CLASS LOCATION - Sat Sept 26th, 2015

We will have to chance location for our classes on Saturday September 26^th as the troupe from Riverdance 20^th Anniversary Show will be practicing at our studio all day.

General Division & Competitive classes will be held at the Irish Association of Manitoba 654 Erin Street for all classes on Saturday September 26^th (at their regularly scheduled time).  Unfortunately there is no space for parents to wait during lessons, so we ask that parents please drop dancers off and pick up at the end of class.

COMPETITIVE DIVISION MEETING REMINDER – 11:00 AM at the Irish Association of Manitoba

We apologize for any inconvenience to your schedule, but we are very excited to host the Riverdance troupe so we thank you for your understanding.

Performance Division - Update Sept 29th, 2015

No Classes - Tuesday, September 29th

A reminder there will be no Performance Division classes on Tuesday, September 29th as most of our dancers will be at the Riverdance show!

Solo & Class Costume Checks - Thursday, October 1st

All Performance Division dancers are asked to bring their solo & black class costumes for a costume check.  If you are unable to attend Thursday's lesson please contact Mary-Margaret to arrange an alternate time to bring your costumes in for inspection.

Running shoes & Yoga mats 

We are asking dancers to please bring an indoor pair of running shoes (or dance trainers) as well as Yoga mats to every class.

Performance Division - Wigs

Performance Division – Wigs

For our 2015 – 2016 Season, Performance Division female dancers will only require the new bun wigs. 

Dancers who wish to sell their 2^nd hand Full Wigs may do so at the costume swap, providing they are in good, useable condition.

The next wig order will be placed at the end of October.  If you require a bun wig immediately, special orders can be placed at any time and wigs are ordered on the website.

MSDSA'S ANNUAL COSTUME SWAP - Oct 3rd, 2015

 

MSDSA’s ANNUAL COSTUME SWAP

The MSDSA annual costume swap will take place on Saturday, October 3rd from 1:30 to 3:30 at the Studio.  Items for sale can be brought to the studio during our collection week on the following dates:

                      Saturday, September 26

                      Monday, September 28

                      Wednesday, September 30

                      Thursday, October 1 Members of MSDSA will be on hand to collect and tag the items.  Make sure that you complete the required forms to ensure proper reimbursement following the swap.

We would also like to invite any interested parents to attend the MSDSA AGM which will be held on October 3rd at 3:45 following the costume swap.

2015 - 2016 Performance Division Registration

McConnell School of Dance Performance Division Registration for the 2015 – 2016 Season is now open!

The Performance Division Troupe “McConnell Irish Dancers” are a professional group comprised of dancers, musicians, and singers.  The McConnell Irish Dancers perform locally at over 80 shows and year and have danced all over the world.   Performance Division dancers are dedicated, hardworking, and willing to commit to dance above all other extracurricular activities.  Dancers must achieve a high standard of Irish dance, exhibit strong performance skills & work as well as a team, in order to perform with the McConnell Irish Dancers.

·         The Performance Division is comprised of 4 levels, with division assigned placement based on dancer’s skill level and performance abilities. 

·         The Performance Division season is 12 months and dancers are expected to commit to shows for the entire duration of the year (Sept 1 – Aug 31^st) 

·         Lessons are held from September to July (11 months) and students must register for the entire season.

Performance Division Entry

Enrollment in Performance Division is open to all McConnell School of Dance students who have completed at least 1 full year in our general or competitive programs.

Dancers will be notified with their status, level placement & lesson time slots prior to the commencement of lessons.

·         In some cases, dancers will be asked to take private / semi private lessons or enrol in competitive classes for additional technique or practice.

·         Placement in performance division does not guarantee a dancer will perform with McConnell Irish Dance troupe performances.

·         Dancers must learn performance routines and perform them at the high standard required for our performance troupe

1.       Orientation Meeting

All dancers enrolling in Performance Division must attend the orientation.  Dancers under 18 should have 1 parent or over 18 family member present.

Dates:  Tuesday, September 15^th, 6:00 – 7:30 PM

2.       Performance Division Commitment Agreement

All Performance Division Dancers must complete & sign a Performance Division Contract. 

Please bring the fully signed contract to the orientation.

3.       Registration Form

Completed McConnell School of Dance Registration  & season payment / payments must be submitted on-line by

Monday, September 14^th, 2015

Postdated cheques may be submitted at the Orientation meeting.

MSDSA - Show & Save Book Fundraiser

MSDSA is pleased to present our first general fundraiser of the year! 

These books have money saving coupons for places which you likely already attend, or why not try something new if you have a coupon!  Over 100 discounts on restaurants, services and entertainment per book, and a re-useable card for many more discounts!

Books will be available through any MSDSA Board member, or by contacting Jacquie at 204-771-9868 to pre-order.  Books will be available beginning Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the open house, and sales will continue until Saturday,

 October 3, 2015 while supplies last. 

Each book and card combination costs only $20.

Dear Dancers & Parents,

      We hope everyone had an enjoyable summer!   Although we hate to see summer come to a close, we are looking forward to our 68^th Season in Canada for McConnell School of Dance. 

Our 2015 – 2016 Fall Schedule is now available on our website.  We are currently updating the website with new season information, so please check back in the member’s area for more details coming soon.  In the meantime, we encourage you to register as early as possible for classes.  If you have questions regarding registration, please email info@mcconnelldancers.com
