Brandon Division - Shoe Swap

Dear Brandon Division Dancers & Parents,
Please feel welcome to bring your 2nd hand Irish dance shoes to class tomorrow for a Brandon Division shoe swap / sale!
This is a great opportunity for dancers who are looking for an economical option for Irish dance shoes or for dancers who wish to sell the shoes they've outgrown.
We encourage parents to come into the studio tomorrow to see what's available (in the waiting room) so they don't miss out on the opportunity for 2nd hand items.
We will schedule a costume swap later in the season!

If you have any questions, please let us know.

CRN Lanyard Orders

CRN Lanyard Orders
The fall order for dancer’s lanyards has arrived!  The next order for lanyards will be in the spring of 2019.
Deadline: September 20th, 2018
Fee: $30 (Canadian)
  • Dancers who wish to order lanyards from CRN should confirm by emailing info@mcconnelldancers.com no later than Thursday, September 20th, 2018

What is a CRN Lanyard?
CRN Lanyards are used to identify competitors with Irish Dance organization, CRN Cumann Rince Náisiúnta, in Dublin Ireland.
Lanyards can be used from year to year and do not need to be re-ordered unless they are lost.

Do you need a CRN Lanyard?
Competing dancers do not require CRN Lanyards, they are optional for all.
Dancers who have CRN Lanyards do not need to pay admission into competitions.  Generally admission fees are $3 - $5 / competition.

Should you order a CRN Lanyard?
If you do not wish to compete, you do not require a lanyard.
If you only intend in competing at the Canada Feile, it may not be worth your while to order a lanyard.
If you wish to compete in several competitions during the season or know you will be competing for years ahead, you would save admission fees and it may be worth ordering a lanyard.

If you have any questions please let u know!

Thank you,
Shayleen McConnell Finucan (TMCRN)

Performance Division dancers will be assessed through an audition process which includes basic technique, steps, choreography, and stage presence.

Dancers technique classes may change during the season, depending on their skills and progress throughout the year.

Dancer’s need not worry about the auditions but we do encourage everyone to go through their dances & technique at home, prior to tomorrow’s audition so we can properly assess the current level.

Dear Dancer and Parents,

We hope everyone had a wonderful summer!   We’ve had an exciting and busy summer at McConnell School of Dance.
  • Thee McConnell dancers competed at the CRN World Open Irish Dance Championships in Killarney, Ireland in June and we are so proud of their hard work and accomplishments.  Congratulations to Maclean Boyd (placed 5th Over 23 Mens) and Bailey Cumming (placed 11th Under 14 Ladies)
  • Our 5th Annual United Kingdom Pavilion was a great success with a new venue (RBC Convention Centre) and a brand new show.  Many thanks to the hard working volunteers who help run the pavilion, and our dancers & musicians for their great work on stage.

Our 2018 – 2019 Fall Registration is now open and we are very excited to launch our NEW website and Student Portal where families can register for classes, update their contact information, and pay their account balances.

With our new website and portal system, all dancers will need to register on-line in order to gain access and register for classes.  Once your registration has been processed, you will receive an email with Student Portal Login information and another with login information to the member’s area of our website.  All dancers must register on-line prior to the start of classes and we recommend returning dancers register as soon as possible as our classes are limited in size.

Please review all policies for the class you are registering as details change from season to season.

Classes begin the week of September 10th - 15th, 2018.  If you have any questions, please contact us!

It is important that all developing female and adult dancers wear maximum support bras and /or sports bras while dancing, to prevent bounce a nd injury. Younger dancers may prefer to wear light undershirts (from home) to avoid embarrassment in dressing rooms which sometimes contain mixed crowd w ith multiple performers involved.
Dress shields should be used by all dancers, regardless of age. Dress shields help prevent odour and stains from sweating when pinned in the underarms of costumes. Removable / washable dress shields are available at sewing and fabric stores in the city.
