SUMMER IRISH DANCE CLASSES

Registration for our Summer Classes is now available!

Summer Classes are held on Thursday evenings and are a great way for dancers to keep up their dances and make progress over the summer months.  Dancers from all divisions are welcome to enrol in the Thursday evening classes.   

SUMMER CLASS DATES

• Thursday - June  6, 13, 20, 27
• Thursday - July 4, 11, 25
• Thursday - Aug 1

*please note, there are no classes during Summer Camp week (July 18th)

THURSDAY PRACTISE SCHEDULE

• 5:30 - 6:30 PM Level 1 & 2  (Beginner, Novice, Preliminary)
• 6:30 - 7:00 PM Ceili Under 12 (All Levels)
• 7:00 - 8:00 PM Level 3 (Intermediate)
• 6:30 - 7:00 PM Ceili Over 12 (All Levels)
• 8:00 - 8:30 PM Set Dances (Preliminary, Intermediate, Advanced)
• 8:30 - 10:00 PM Level 4 & 5 (Advanced)

Competitive Division Dancers who wish to compete in the November 2019 Winnipeg Feis  & Folklorama Dancers are required to attend Thursday classes throughout the summer.

THURSDAY LESSONS

In order to adequately prepare Irish dancers for performances in front of our large audiences at Folklorama, we ask everyone attend Thursday evening Competitive Classes for the months of June & July.  Dancers should enrol in at least 1 Level Class (1 - 5) plus 1 Ceili Class (Under 12 or Over 12), depending on age.

SUMMER CAMP 2019

Monday July 15th - Friday July 19th, 2019

We are delighted to announce CRN Adjudicator, Trainer, and Dance Master Ms. Ann English along with her assistant teacher and 2017 World Champion dancer Deane Shannon will be joining our teaching team for Summer Camp 2019. We are very excited to have Ann & Deane return for Summer Camp and we hope all of our students are able to take advantage of this unique opportunity to train with some of the best Irish dance teachers in Ireland!

Summer Camp General Information

Summer Camp is offered to all students registered with McConnell School of Dance from Recreational, Performance, Competitive or Brandon Divisions.

Summer camp is recommended for dancers 6 & up. All adult students are welcome!

Dancers who are unable to attend all 5 days of camp may choose to register per day, rather than the full week.

Summer Camp Schedule

10:00 am - 5:00 pm (All levels & Ages)

1 hr break for lunch from 12:30 - 1:30 PM. There will be supervision for dancers who stay at the studio during lunch break.

Summer Camp Fees

$450 / week (plus taxes)

$110 / day (plus taxes)

DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION - Monday, June 3rd, 2019

Due to the logistics of bringing instructors from Ireland, we need to be firm with registration deadline. Space is limited and late fees will apply to those who miss the registration deadline.

The competition is open to all McConnell School of Dance Students from our General, Performance, Brandon, and Competitive Divisions. Canada Feile is a wonderful opportunity for dancers to experience competitive Irish dance in a  supportive environment, without the commitment and expense of long distance travel.  It's not too late to register if you decide you would like to compete!  Please contact us IMMEDIATELY.

For those who've already indicated they wish to compete, your registration is prepared by the teacher and confirmations will be sent out soon with competition #'s and fees.

Private Lessons are offered to Competitive, Recreational and Performance dancers.

• Please do not sign up for consecutive solo lessons as dancers require a break after 30 minutes.
• Families may combine lesson for a semi-private lessons.

Performance Division will is pleased to announce the Summer Stock Up Raffle! The draw will be held at the conclusion of our 70th annual recital on Sunday June 2nd, 2019

Prizes

• 1st place - $500.00 gift card to the Liquor Commission
• 2nd Place - $250.00 gift card to the Liquor Commission
• 3rd place - $100.00 gift card to the Liquor Commission

Tickets are 3 for $5.00.

We will be offering tickets or books of tickets for our Recreational and Competitive Divisions, please see your instructor before or after class!

Proceeds from the raffle go towards our sponsorship of the United Kingdom Pavilion.
